Gurren Lagann Movie

Fri, 05 Feb 2010 18:25:23 EST

This Saturday at 7PM we'll have our most epic screening in some time: the second Gurren Lagann movie, which condenses the second half of the series into just over two hours. See you in B&H 190 at 7PM!

Eve no Jikan

Hello, everyone; we're starting this semester off with a screening of Eve no Jikan, the story of a future with androids and how people live with them. See you this Saturday in Barus & Holley 190 at 7PM, where we'll show off some of the new library acquisitions and discuss what to show this semester. 無

Marathon

Fri, 11 Dec 2009 15:42:04 EST

This weekend we'll be having our end-of-semester marathon. Since it appears people are busy with exams, this will be much shorter than usual - we'll only be showing two movies, though they're classics well worth seeing again or for the first time.

Nausicaa is perhaps Miyazaki's most epic film; its premise is environmental at its core, and thus the fate of the world hangs in the balance as ambition puts the future of humanity at risk, ancient weapons are awakened, and a few brave souls struggle to maintain balance in a dying world. Highly recommended.

One of Miyazaki's earliest efforts, The Castle of Cagliostro is the best-known Lupin III movie for good reason. Playboy thief Lupin is on the trail of superlative counterfeiters in a tiny country when he finds a damsel in distress and things play out from there. We'll be showing the high-definition version of this film.

I'll start Nausicaa at 9:30 with sushi from Haruki Express; it runs two hours, after which The Castle of Cagliostro runs one hour and forty minutes.

This is our last screening of the semester; even if you're drenched with finals, take a break, have some sushi, and enjoy yourself! See you in Barus & Holley 190 this Saturday. 無

Diebuster

Fri, 04 Dec 2009 18:20:15 EST

Diebuster this Saturday, usual time and place. Technically related to Gunbuster, but more recent - it's halfway between FLCL and Gurren Lagann, and not just chronologically.

See you there! Marathon is a week from Saturday. 無

Thanksgiving

Sun, 22 Nov 2009 13:37:13 EST

The last post had one mistake - we will not be showing Diebuster this coming weekend, as it is Thanksgiving, and there will be no showing. Enjoy some turkey! 無
